Spring has been welcomed, as the miracle it is, since the first melting zephyr touched an ice-age hunters cold cheek. It sets off a fire in the blood, a restlessness in the spirit and a yearning in the body, celebrated in the poetry of a millennia.
In Canada, so often subject to cruel, long winters, poets reflected the upheaval of order and infusion of the wild in memorable verse. The same emotions light up the images of the Poets of the Confederationas break the reserve of our contemporary writers.
