Lollie Heronfeather Singer

In the Tavern of Lost Souls

Every month, at midnight at the dark of the moon, four poets meet in a rather poor tavern in Toronto. A silly question is posed and, when they meet the next month, each has a poem to answer the question.

It's dark and dismal, and the result is a book of the finest poems the English-speaking world has seen. I'm awed each time I dip into the book. I managed to make each poet (two men, two women) individuals with their own styles of writing and own hangups, and to write these stunning poems for each of them.

But, somehow, the book as a whole just doesn't work. Great poems, annoying book. It's like the poems are from angels and the poets that make them are all-too-human losers.

Bizarre. But interesting, verrrry interesting....

*Note that I hand-bind copies of this sucker in the basement. I got this book, like, on how to do that. Looked good, but I never felt the pages were in there firmly enough, so I add a few big mother staples to hold it together. You take it as you get it, eh.
